This September, we traveled to Somerset, Pennsylvania to visit beautiful Horizon View Farms for the early fall wedding of Alex and Darth.
Alex looked stunning! Her makeup was gorgeous and really made her eyes pop. The lip color was the perfect shade of coral to coordinate with the flower headpiece.
Her hair was a soft, romantic style with curls pinned up and a braid worked from the side into the curls in the back. She chose to wear a custom made gold birdcage veil with matching custom made coral flower headpiece.
For the her bouquet, Alex chose a large, loose, hand-tied wildflower bouquet. It was made with lots of greens and berries, with blue, coral, and yellow flowers, wrapped in burlap and embellished with pearl accents.
For her bridesmaids, Alex chose smaller but similar style bouquets of loose wildflowers, also with the stems wrapped in burlap.
She chose to carry on the theme for the boutonnieres for Darth and his groomsmen. They were made with coral berries from her bouquet and yellow Billy Balls with a sprig of greens wrapped in ribbon and twine.
The wedding ceremony was in a little grove of pine trees on the edge of the farm. Long, wooden benches lined each side of the aisle for their friends and family to sit. Wild flower filled mason jars hung from shepherd's crooks at the ends of the rows.
It was a lovely traditional jewish ceremony. Alex and Darth stood under a Chuppah that his family made for the ceremony and we decorated with coral Hydrangea bouquets. It was a very special moment for everyone there to see them come together in marriage.
After the ceremony, friends and family gathered at the barn for the reception. Wildflowers in mason jars sat inside of grapevine wreaths on top of burlap placemats for each table. While a small arrangement and olive branches adorned the cake table.
The cake was adorable, made to look like a tree trunk with their initials carved into the wood.
Everything from the decor to the lighting brought a magical look to the barn, and made for a lovely venue to hold the reception.
We interviewed our lovely Bellezza. Fiori. Friend Alex about her day:
Bellezza.Fiori. :How did you meet your husband?
BFF: Darth and I met in the Caribbean. Our mutual friend arranged a catamaran trip around the Grenadines, and at the last minute he broke up with his girlfriend and invited Darth to come! We stayed in touch after the trip and started dating later that year.
Bellezza. Fiori. : Tell us a little bit about your story together, (how long you've been with each other, how did he propose, what do you love most about your husband, anything unique to you as a couple)!
BFF: We have been together over 6 years. We spent most of our time living in different states while I was finishing my medical training and he had a job in Philadelphia. We got engaged on a camping trip. I had no idea he was going to propose and he was not sure how he was going to do it. We were hiking and passed a waterfall, so on the returning part of the hike I stopped to take some pictures of the waterfall and when I turned around he was on one knee with the ring!
Bellezza. Fiori. : What is your favorite thing to do together in your free time?
BFF: We like to camp and ski in our extended free time. In our day to day lives, our free time is spent hanging out with our two dogs, Chunk and Kit.
Bellezza. Fiori. : How did you decide what time of year, theme, and colors you wanted for your wedding day?
BFF: We needed to have the wedding on a Sunday, so we wanted a 3 day weekend for people traveling to the wedding to have some time afterwards (and basically everyone was coming from out of town). We chose Labor Day because fall is Darth's favorite time of the year and summer is mine, so it fits right in the middle of those 2 seasons.
Bellezza. Fiori. : What was your most memorable detail of your big day?
BFF: Everything went by so quickly and turned out so wonderfully that it is hard to pick a specific detail. The ceremony in the trees was really unique and made us feel totally separated from the rest of the word for that short moment in time.
Bellezza. Fiori. : What influenced you the most in your wedding planning process, (your inspiration, ideas, choosing venues, etc.)?
BFF: We knew we wanted an outdoor ceremony in a barn, probably somewhat influenced by Pinterest but also influenced by our love of the outdoors.
Bellezza. Fiori. : What advice do you have for future brides looking to start planning their big day?
BFF: Plan early, do some research beforehand to concretely define what you want because it will help you and your vendors, and try to be flexible on most things but if there are one or two things that are immensely important to you for your wedding then don't compromise on those things.
Bellezza. Fiori. : If you could relive any moment of that big day, what would it be?
BFF: The whole thing, really. It was an amazing time and I just wish it lasted longer, time really does fly by.
Bellezza. Fiori. : Did you go on a honeymoon, if so where?
BFF: Not yet, but we are planning a New Zealand honeymoon.
Bellezza. Fiori. : What other vendors did you use? Please list contact info. for each vendor so other brides to check them out too!
