Bellezza. Fiori. : How did you meet your husband?
BFF: We met by working together. When I first started working for my current company, all the ladies kept asking me if I had met him yet...and I hadn't. They said he was the most handsome man in the building and I would know when I saw him. A few weeks later, at a company event, I saw this man coming down the walk way and knew it had to be him. He was so unbelievably handsome and from that moment, I was smitten. We started working more closely together and I knew I was in trouble. He was not only handsome but he was so funny, charming and the complete package. Every night after work, I would tell my best friend (who was my maid of honor) that I was going to marry that man and dubbed him my work husband. He didn't know any of this at the time. When we had to go on a work trip together, I knew I didn't stand a chance! We had to be in a car for hours together and spend the few days together. We ended up having so much fun together. After that trip, we were inseparable. For the record, we remained completely professional at the work trip! When the trip was over, I was so sad because I didn't know what was going to happen next. I threw out a few hints and had given my number to him previously (for the work function, of course)so was hoping something would happen. I had told him before we left that if he ever wanted to hang out, I'd love it. A few days later, he strolled into work and said "remember how you said if i ever wanted to hang out... well, we have a date Friday night". The rest is history!
Bellezza. Fiori. : Tell us a little bit about your story together, (how long you've been with each other, how did he propose, what do you love most about your husband, anything unique to you as a couple)!
BFF: We have been together for about 4 years now. Married for 2 months. Best 2 months ever. He proposed to me about 3 years in. I knew from the second I met him, that I wanted to marry him so I patiently waited! At our last anniversary dinner, he started asking questions about what type of diamond cut i like, so I knew it had to be coming. He always told me that I was never allowed to shop for rings with him, he wanted to be the one to pick it out. And I'm glad because he picked the most perfect ring! After that dinner, I certainly tried to guess when he was going to do it. Little did I know, that he had already asked my father permission over the 4th of July weekend, so my whole family knew it was coming. They played it off well, making jokes how he's never going to do it, so I almost started to believe them. On a random Saturday morning in September (20th to be exact), We woke up together and started the normal routine. I got up, went to the bathroom to brush my hair and teeth. And thank goodness I did! When I was in the bathroom, I could hear drawers shutting and some commotion going on. I thought he was playing with our dog, Magoo. Then I heard music, our song to be exact. But just thought he was watching videos on youtube. So i walk out of the bedroom and he's got our song playing and he's kneeling by the bed. It really didn't hit me what was going on so I just climbed on the bed and gave him a kiss. Then that's when it hit me.... he pulled me in front of him, grabbed my hand and started to say some really nice things. I feel awful i don't remember everything he said but at that point I started crying and having an out of body experience because it was finally happening! He did have to remind me to say yes and then made it official by putting this gorgeous ring on my finger! The day was perfect! I wouldn't change a thing about it. It was romantic, it was private, it was us.... The day was amazing. Calling all our friends and family, even though most of them knew. The love and support we felt was so great, and we still feel it!
Bellezza. Fiori. : What is your favorite thing to do together in your free time?
BFF: My husband is a golfer... so if we get the chance, we'll golf together. He's obviously much better than I am but he's the best teacher and we have so much fun doing it. Other than that, we like to be lazy together. We're on the go so much with work and his golf career that we truly enjoy just spending time together laughing and being with one another.
Bellezza. Fiori. : How did you decide what time of year, theme, and colors you wanted for your wedding day?
BFF: Since my husband is a golfer and travels, we had to make sure it fit with his schedule! Can't have a wedding without a groom! So, August seemed to fit perfectly for us. We are not cold weather people either, so anything outside the summer/early fall was not really an option! August 29, 2015 was our date!
Bellezza. Fiori. : What colors, themes, time of year, etc. did you choose?
BFF: We're pretty laid back and casual so choosing anything loud or fancy wasn't going to happen. We wanted to incorporate golf somehow, so decided to get married at a golf/ski resort. We chose Hidden Valley Resort (highly recommend!) We were able to have a gorgeous outside ceremony with access to the golf course for pictures. It was also great because our reception was there as well. A one stop shop. Our colors were blush and gray. They were easy to chose because he loves gray and I love pink! Our girls were in beautiful long, chiffon blush dresses while our guys where in a charcoal gray, rocking suspenders! My husband stood out and wore a lighter gray suit!
Bellezza. Fiori. : What was your most memorable detail of your big day?
BFF: My husband and I decided we wanted to take a picture before the ceremony started - without seeing each other. When it started to get close to the ceremony, the photographer gave me the heads up that he was on his way down to the bridal room to take this picture. The anticipation of getting to hear his voice and hold his hand was overwhelming, in a good way. When he got there and we were back to back with a wall between us, everything hit me... I was a few minutes away from getting to marry the love of my life. The moment was so special. It was a little "us" time before the craziness began.....and the pictures turned out great
Bellezza. Fiori. : What influenced you the most in your wedding planning process, (your inspiration, ideas, choosing venues, etc.)?
Bellezza. Fiori. : What advice do you have for future brides looking to start planning their big day?
BFF: DON'T STRESS!! I can't honestly say that I had a pretty stress free planning process and it was wonderful! When you look at the big picture, the day is not about the flowers or the centerpieces or the small details... it's about you getting to marry the love of your life! If something goes wrong, there's a good chance you would be the only one to notice anyway. Take it all in and enjoy every second of it! It all goes by so fast!!
