This past May Bellezza. Fiori. had the pleasure of working with this beautiful bride Devon!
When we first met Devon, we could tell right away that she was a kind-hearted, free-spirited person with a great sense of style.
Devon envisioned a perfect blend of old Hollywood glamour intertwined with today's modern, relaxed elegance.
We are so happy for Devon and Dom, we wish them a wonderful and happy life together! It was wonderful to be able to be apart of their big day!
Bellezza. Fiori. : How did you meet your husband?
BFF: I met Dom in junior year of high school. He sat next to me in our American Cultures class. At that time, we both were just good friends but we secretly had crushes on each other ;) However, neither of us were available until after graduation. We went on a couple of dates but nothing ever really came of it. It wasn't until two years later that we truly found each other.
Bellezza. Fiori. : Tell us a little bit about your story together, (how long you've been with each other, how did he propose, what do you love most about your husband, anything unique to you as a couple)!
BFF: Dom and I started dating on Memorial Day 2013. He proposed Christmas 2014. Nothing extravagant. He had been planning for quite some time but things kept getting in the way. Three engagement rings and a failed Labor Day trip later, he decided that he just couldn't wait anymore. I had literally just woken up, hairs a mess, wearing my robe. I came downstairs and he was sitting the couch. I sat on his lap, gave him a hug, and wished him merry Christmas. He started to stand up and pulled the ring out of his pocket. He didn't even have to say anything. I was already sobbing and nodding my head before he even had a chance to. Best Christmas gift ever.
Bellezza. Fiori. : What is your favorite thing to do together in your free time?
BFF: Dom has been skateboarding since he was little. I'm obviously not a skater myself but I love going to the skate park with him just to watch. He's also an avid golfer (another thing that I can't do). We've played almost every mini golf course in the area!
Bellezza. Fiori. : How did you decide what time of year, theme, and colors you wanted for your wedding day?
BFF: I wanted to get married on our anniversary so we chose May 28th. May is also just a beautiful time of year and there are great flowers in bloom during that season. It wasn't hard to decide theme and colors either; did I mention I've been planning for a long time?
Bellezza. Fiori. : What colors, themes, time of year, etc. did you choose?
BFF: We chose blush pink and mint green as our colors; these have been my favorite colors for years. As far as theme goes, I love all things antique and vintage. I'm still convinced I was born in the wrong decade. I was inspired by the 20s and 30s for fashion, hair and makeup on both myself and my girls. We decorated our reception venue with an antique store in mind; very mismatch with a lot of dainty flowers and doilies.
Bellezza. Fiori. :What was your most memorable detail of your big day?
BFF: Since I didn't have anywhere to hide at our wedding venue, we decided to do a first look at our local park. I was so anxious and kept trying to hold back tears so I didn't ruin my makeup before he even had a chance to see me. I just remember how relieved I was once I did see him. Everything was smooth sailing from there.
Bellezza. Fiori. : What influenced you the most in your wedding planning process, (your inspiration, ideas, choosing venues, etc.)?
BFF: Like I said before, I'm a sucker for vintage. I bought most of my decor secondhand or from a thrift/antique store. I also DIYed several decorations. I've had my venue in mind for several years. We chose Phipps Conservatory for a few reasons. One: because it's absolutely beautiful Two: we didn't want something traditional and Three: no decorations needed! The place is stunning as is and covered in flowers, what else could it possibly need?!
Bellezza. Fiori. : What advice do you have for future brides looking to start planning their big day?
BFF: The best piece of advice I was given and would make sure every single bride knows: if something isn't the way you want it, nobody is even going to notice. Things went wrong all day long. But guess what? Nobody cared. They had no idea. As far as they're concerned, everything was perfect. And because they thought it was perfect, I thought it was. Who cares if your lip stick smudges, you forgot your guest book, and your pastor decided to sing the Lord's Prayer and he's not nearly as good as he let on? You're married! Enjoy it!
Bellezza. Fiori. : How did you choose your locations and ideas for photos that day?
BFF: One photo that was really important to us was putting a lock on Schenley bridge. We are proud to be from pittsburgh and wanted to add a small piece of us to it. We also chose to take some of our portraits at our local skate park. The wedding is for the bride but that doesn't mean the groom can't have a little fun too ;)
Bellezza. Fiori. : Would you recommend Bellezza. Fiori. to other bride, why or why not?
BFF: Absolutely! Both Lauren and Cathy were incredible. My flowers were beautiful and exactly what I pictured. Cathy even made free boutonnières for the boys just because! I asked for a very dated and difficult hair style and Lauren absolutely nailed it. They also made me a custom garter that was perfect. They were easy to get a hold of and stayed in touch with me every step of the way.
